Carpet exports decline

Carpets worth Rs 1.631 billion has been exported in the first nine months of the current fiscal. Exports have decreased by 28 per cent from that of the corresponding period in the last fiscal, re-presenting a decrease of Rs 453.5 million from Rs 2.08 billion, according to Birgunj Customs Office. Acco-rding to carpet entreprene-urs, price of Nepali carpets was not competitive primarily due to increasing labour cost and rise in the cost of raw materials.
