CF transitional homes

KATHMANDU: The Chaudhary Foundation (CF) has handed over 76 ‘transitional homes’ to the earthquake survivors in Lalitpur district’s Karyabinayak Municipality ward number 14 Burungchuli and ward number 15 Lukundole. Rahul Chaudhary, executive director of Chaudhary Group, handed over these shelters to the locals amid a ceremony held in Burungchuli, on Sunday. These homes were built under the CG Shelter project of the foundation. Burungchuli and Lukundole are two areas that have been adversely affected by the recent earthquake in Nepal. Economically poor, disabled, single women, and elderly people were the priority recipients of these shelters. This was the third installment of shelter handover from the Chaudhary Foundation, following the handover of 70 shelters in Kathmandu’s Machchhegaun and 60 in Bhaktapur’s Changunarayan. The foundation had announced a relief plan on May 8 to build 1000 transitional homes for the survivors of the earthquake. It had also announced that it would coordinate with donors to build an additional 9000 homes.

Boeing safety issue

WASHINGTON: US aviation giant Boeing said on Saturday it has asked airlines to address a maintenance issue after a passenger jet’s landing gear panel fell after takeoff and fell on a Shanghai suburb. The sheet of metal weighing 60 kg plunged to the ground shortly after Air France Flight 111 took off from Shanghai headed for Paris on Monday, Boeing said. No one was injured in the Boeing 777 incident. Boeing has issued a service bulletin to the fleet providing instructions on how to resolve the issue.
