Coke celebrates 131 years of refreshment

KATHMANDU: May 8 marks the 131st anniversary of Coca-Cola, whose history began on May 8, 1886, when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr John S Pemberton, led him to create a distinctive tasting soft drink.

This drink has been refreshing and uplifting people across the globe since, and the drink that was at once ‘Delicious and Refreshing’ continues to be a part of people’s everyday moments. Dr Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage ‘Coca‑Cola’ as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today. While it was Dr Pemberton who created the drink, it was Asa G Candler, who grew the business, spreading it across the USA.

Now, the company operates in more than 200 countries. Coca-Cola has been refreshing Nepal since 1979 with a range of brands for all occasions. The company aspires to bring innovative ideas and provide unique exposure and opportunities for consumers in Nepal.
