Construction of Shringighat irrigation dam affected
Kapilvastu, May 4 :
The ongoing construction of Shringighat irrigation project has been affected as businessmen refuse to provide construction materials on credit to the construction company.
The construction of the project was initiated four months ago after an agreement between the Western Regional Irrigation Development Division number-5, Kapilvastu and the contractors, Nepal Adarsha Main Partners and Jay Buddha Construction Service, in 2061 BS.
According to the agreement, after the construction, it had to be handed over to local consumers within this month.
But, the construction of the project has not been completed yet.
According to the project details, the Shringighat dam will be five metres tall.
Chief engineer Rajendra Lal Shreevastav at the division office said, “The contractors have already taken Rs 10 million but the construction remains at the primary level.”
The construction companies are not paying much interest citing recent losses, as the
agreement was reached two years back.
A worker of the construction company said, “The problem has become tough because businessmen have stopped providing construction materials on credit.
