CRF panel to hold flood relief hand-over

Kathmandu, September 3:

A steering committee meeting of Citizens’ Relief Fund (CRF) here today decided to hold a relief handover ceremony on Friday. “The meeting also decided to request artistes and singers to take part in the humanitarian service,” said a press release.

The relief collection drive will have stalls at various crowded spots in the valley such as Basantapur, Bhatbhateni, Krishna Mandir, United World Trade Centre (UWTC), Tripureshwor and Ratnapark for five days.

Famous cine artistes and CRF coordinators Madan Krishna Shrestha and Haribansha Acharya will be at the relief collection booths. One can go to the booth where one’s favourite artiste is and hand over the relief, said the release.

Shrestha and Acharya will collect the relief from different parts of the town while Binod Chaudhary, coordinator of the organisational relief collection committee, will collect from various organisations.

CRF is a permanent network of 12 various organisations that have joined hands to

help victims of natural or manmade disasters. The fund was set up at the initiative of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI).

Maha Sanchar, CNI, Nepal Bankers’ Association, Nepal Remittance Association, Nepal Finance Company Association, CNI Youth Forum, Nepal Chalachitra Kalakaar Sangh, Himalayan Rescue Association, Nepal Tour Operators’ Association, Sagarmatha Television and APCA Nepal are the partners in the initiative.

A 17-member team led by Shrestha, with Anil Shah, Sudhir Rajbhandari, Binod Chaudhary, Chandra Dhakal, Banwari Lal Mittal, Basant Chaudhary and other eminent personalities as members, has been formed to manage the fund.

Relief distribution panels also were formed under Shrestha with Anil Shah, Bishnu Agrawal and Ashish Sharma. A relief collection panel was formed under Acharya with Sudhir Rajbhandari, Derek Lal Shrestha and Jaya Budhathoki.

A team with doctors has left for the flood-hit area. Those interested can deposit money at Nabil Bank’s Kantipath branch in account no. 0210017520506 and Global Bank’s account no. 0108010005591.
