Crops worth millions of rupees damaged

SOLUKHUMBU: Landslides and floods triggered by incessant rainfall on Sunday midnight have swept away two houses and scores of cattle in the district, destroyed over a dozen houses completely and damaged property and crops worth tens of millions of rupees, the District Administration Office said. A house at Nechabatase-7 was washed away and 11 other families in the settlement were displaced by a landslide triggered after the local river flooded, following rainfall, said Chief District Officer Jhadka Nath Dhakal. Local people said that the landslip also swept away more than 40 cattle and destroyed crops on hundreds of ropanis of farmland. According to a preliminary estimate by police, crops and property worth tens of millions of rupees were destroyed.
