Cymbidium Orchid Show 2009 soon

Kathmandu, March 15:

Cymbidium Orchid Growers’ Group (CYMOGG) is organising ‘Cymbidium Orchid Show 2009’ from March 21-22 to promote Cymbidium orchids grown in Nepal as high status cut flowers.

“There is an urgent need for supporting the commercial expansion of cymbidium orchid cultivation in Nepal. The farmers’ participation is required so that we can help them raise their living standards by helping them ear more income through the export of Cymbidium orchids. That is the reason why we are holding the show,” said Rajendra Rai, chairman of CYMOGG.

According to him, the main attraction of this show will be mass display and demonstration of various attractive uses of cymbidium orchid, sales stalls of orchids and of various interesting items made from orchids.

CYMOGG is organising this show with the support of Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperative, DPCI, FAN and with special assistance of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, AEC, Lalitpur Chambers of Commerce and Industries (LCCI). CYMOGG is a group of Cymbidium orchid growers united under the cymbidium orchid cultivation of ‘One Village One Product’ programme that has been launched by the government.

According to CYMOGG, Cymbidium orchid is normally found and cultivated at altitudes of 1300-1700 metres and is found in China, Japan, the Himalayan range, in South East Asian Countries

and Australia.
