Czech auto output

PRAGUE: Czech carmakers turned out a record-high of nearly 1.3 million passenger cars last year, a growth of more than four per cent from 2014, trade data showed on Friday. The EU member of 10.5 million people is home to car plants run by Volkswagen’s Skoda Auto, South Korean carmaker Hyundai, and TPCA, a joint venture between France’s Peugeot-Citroen and Japan’s Toyota. Skoda had 57 per cent of the market, Hyundai made up 26 per cent and TPCA covered 17 per cent in 2015, the Automotive Industry Association said in a statement. The Czech economy is heavily dependent on car production and exports mainly to the eurozone.
