Dispute in tea estate

Sankhuwasabha, June 10:

Four workers at Sagarmatha Tea Estate in Tamaphok village development committee in Sankhuwasabha district complained that they have are not paid their wages for past 14 months.

Durga Adhikari, Tilak Bahadur Magar, Dhan Maya Ghimire and Tek Bahadur Magar said they have not received 14 months wages worth Rs 1, 28,200.

They blamed proprietors of the tea estate Binod Chandra Sharma, Thir Bahadur Katwal and Subas Kafle of going to Kathmandu without paying their wages.

When asked about the wages of the workers, Subas Kafle who is one of the proprietors currently in Kathmandu said the wages will be given to the workers after he will return to the district from the capital.

Saying that the workers won’t have any kind of problems, he said that the estate has delayed in paying the wages since the workers worked carelessly while planting the tea.

The Sagarmatha Tea Estate established in ward no 6 and 8 of Tamaphok VDC in 1998 has started producing tea from 2000.
