Following the decision of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) to reduce price of aviation fuel for domestic airlines, the fuel surcharge for domestic airlines operating on trunk routes and short takeoff and landing (STOL) routes has been fixed at Rs 72.34 per seat per minute and Rs 51.68 per seat per minute, respectively.

With this, airfares have been reduced from a minimum of Rs 60 to Rs 750 for domestic flights according to the revised list released by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). The reduced airfare will come into effect from Wednesday.

As per the list, the fuel surcharge on Kathmandu mountain flights (64.55 minutes) has been reduced by Rs 485; Kathmandu-Biratnagar (45.17 minutes) by 335; Kathmandu-Bhadrapur (56.48 minutes) by Rs 420; Kathmandu-Pokhara (29.85 minutes) by Rs 225; Kathmandu-Bhairahawa (38.73 minutes) by Rs 285; Kathmandu-Nepalgunj (61.31 minutes) by Rs 455; Kathmandu-Dhangadhi (83.09 minutes) by Rs 615; Kathmandu-Surkhet (64.99 minutes) by Rs 485; Kathmandu-Simara (16.94 minutes) by Rs 125; and Kathmandu-Tumlingtar (34.70 minutes) by Rs 125.

Similarly, fuel surcharge on Pokhara-Bharatpur (20.89 minutes) has been dropped by Rs 155; Pokhara mountain flights (59.06 minutes) by Rs 440, Pokhara-Bhairahawa (24.24 minutes) by Rs 180; Pokhara-Simara (42.10 minutes) by Rs 310; Pokhara-Nepalgunj (44.61 minutes) by Rs 330; Pokhara-Biratnagar (66.94 minutes) by Rs 500; Biratnagar mountain flights(60 minutes) by Rs 445, Biratnagar-Bhairahawa (73.92 minutes) by Rs 550 and Bhairahawa-Bharatpur (54 minutes) by Rs 400, among others. Meanwhile, the fuel surcharge for the country's long route (100.9 minutes) from Biratnagar to Nepalgunj has been reduced by Rs 750.

Furthermore, the fuel surcharge on STOL flights operating across the country has been reduced from a minimum of Rs 60 to Rs 605.

On Monday, the Nepal Oil Corporation had slashed the price of aviation fuel (domestic) by Rs 14 to be traded at Rs 136 per litre. Likewise, the price of petrol was fixed at Rs 170 per litre, diesel, and kerosene at Rs 150 per litre in class three areas including Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Dipayal. Aviation fuel for international airlines was also reduced to $1.035 per litre.
