KATHMANDU, JANUARY 22

Minister for Finance, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat, has stated that thenational economy is gradually returning to normalcy.

Inaugurating the new building of Mahagadhimai Municipality in Bara on Monday, Minister Mahat mentioned that the country's economy was deteriorating when he assumed office, but it is currently in a recovering state.

On a different note, Mahat assured that he would hold talks with officials from both Nepal and India regarding the opening of some checkpoints in Bara district bordering Nepal and India. Emphasizing the acceleration of efforts to attract investment for Nijgadh Airport, the Minister urged everyone not to doubt the construction of the airport.

Providing an update on the Sunkoshi Marine Diversion Multipurpose Project, Minister Mahat mentioned that it is in the last phase, expressing his belief that its completion would facilitate irrigation in many districts in the Madhesh region.

In a program presided over by Mahagadhimai Municipality Mayor Upendra Yadav, attendees included Nepali Congress's central member Ajay Chaurasia, Nepali Congress's Madhesh Province's Vice-President Chandra Shekhar Kumar Yadav, and parliamentarians, among others, who shared their respective views.

Meanwhile, Minister Mahat inspected Choti Bhansar, a customs office at Simraungadh in the district, and pledged to open the customs point at the earliest. He also visited the Sanphulawa checkpoint in Swarna Rural Municipality in the district on the same day.
