During her address at the eighth ICT Award ceremony organized by 'Living with ICT,' a media company, on Friday, the Minister reminded that the government has recognized communications and information technology as a fundamental concern of the citizens and has accorded national priority accordingly.
"The government is clear about the significance of IT, which is a tool not only for simplifying people's daily lives but also for fostering economic development," the Minister said. She argued that recent experiences suggest our potential to compete globally by supplying IT-based services.
She further announced that the government realizes the need for a 'departure' in this sector. As the Minister shared, the government is initiating the establishment of the Cyber Security Centre, adding that significant changes in IT are a must for further systematization.
However, she admitted that the Digital Nepal Framework 2076 BS failed to progress at the expected pace, and the government realized the need to review it and proceed accordingly.
"The Ministry has launched initiatives to strengthen the digital infrastructure sector. Preparations are underway to implement the ICT Exhibition and Digital Championship programs to promote startups in IT and innovations. Likewise, the 'Digital Skill' program is in the offing for all seven provinces, targeting youths for employment opportunities within the country," the government spokesperson informed.
