KATHMANDU: Energy Development Council (EDC) and Hangzhou Regional Centre (HRC) have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The MoU was signed by Sujit Acharya, chairperson of EDC and Xu Jincai, director of HRC. This agreement will create a comprehensive hydropower and renewable energy cooperation between stakeholders in both the countries.

HRC is an organisation formed in 1981 by the Chinese government and the United Nations to help developing countries build their technical capacity in hydro and renewal energy.

EDC is the umbrella organisation of the entire energy sector of Nepal and comprises leading energy organisations of energy developers, energy associations and energy financiers and other funds, energy contractors and energy institutions from both the private and government sectors.
