Entrepreneurs urge focus on small, cottage industry

Entrepreneurs opined that development of small and cottage industry can help reduce poverty. “If small and cottage indu-stries are not developed, the target of poverty reduction can not be achieved,” they said speaking at an interaction on ‘Cottage and Small Industry: Problems and Challenges,’ organised by Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) here.

They stressed on training for quality improvement and market expansion for the products, easy aviability of loan and transfer of technology for the development of cottage industry.

“We need policy revamp for the development of cottage industry,” Chandi Raj Dhakal, president of FNCCI, said, adding that FNCCI is ready to help develop it.

Dhrub Joshi, DG at the department of small and cottage industry stressed on cooperation between entrepreneurs and the department.

Similarly, Ajad Shrestha, third vice-president of FNCCI said FNCCI is working in cooperation with department to develop cottage industry.
