Finance companies demand tax discount

Lahan: Representatives of savings and loan cooperative organisations have demanded tax discounts for community-based cooperatives running in city areas. The representatives said that the cooperatives based in rural communities get discount on income tax while their city-based counterparts are not getting such concession, which is biased. Central Association of Savings and Fund Cooperative of Nepal (CASFCN), eastern field office of Itahari had organised a three-day long savings and loan cooperative management training. Ghan Shyam Khatiwada, general secretary of CASFCN, said that one should be aware of fake cooperatives. — HNS
