FNCCI delegation to take part in CACCI meet

A 12-member delegation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), today left for India to take part in the 69th council meeting of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), scheduled for February 17 in New Delhi. The delegation led by FNCCI first vice-president Chandi Raj Dhakal will also participate in the 20th CACCI conference and CACCI Bazaar, a mega regional industrial and trade show, to be held on February 18- 20, in New Delhi. Montek Singh Aluwalia, vice-chairman of Indian National Planning Commission, is scheduled to address the meet of apex private sector organisations from the Asia Pacific region. Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) is the host of the event.

The council meeting is likely to approve the recommendation reports prepared by the working groups on tourism, regional trade and industrial cooperation. Among various sessions, Nepali team leader, Dhakal will chair a special session of Asian Textile and Readymade Garment Council. According to FNCCI, the theme of the CACCI conference, is the ‘strategies for sustainable growth in the Asia Pacific region’, in which delegates from the region will discuss matters related to foreign investment, regional trade facilitation, strategies for small and medium enterprises development and institutional restructuring. The CACCI Bazaar is an exclusive event to showcase various industrial products and services from member countries of the organisation. The event will showcase jewellery, textile and readymade garments, handicrafts, electrical accessories, information technology, furniture, agro produces and food processing technology, cosmetics, toys, spices, machinery, stationery, wood and wooden products, skin and tannery products. The Nepali delegation includes Aajad Shrestha, Krishna Prasad Tamrakar, Kiran Prakash Shakh, Kush Kumar Joshi, Kedar Lal Khosi, Umesh Lal Amatya, Rajendra Kumar Lalchan, Uday Raj Pandey, Naresh Bahadur Shrestha, Saurab Jyoti, Sita Ram Adhikari and Uttam Jha.

The delegation is also scheduled to meet officials of FICCI and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and discuss about bilateral promotion of trade, investment and expansion of economic activities between Nepal and India.
