FNCSI to launch MIS for small industries
Kathmandu, Sept 10
The Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industry (FNCSI) is gearing up to launch the Management Information System (MIS) for micro, cottage and small industries.
Jointly developed by FNCSI and DFID-funded SAMARTH/NMDP, the software provides space to establish district-wise comprehensive database of micro, cottage and small industries incorporating data of individual industry like name, type, kind, capital, employment, production capacity, source and market of raw materials and finished products and other details which will be regularly updated, as per a media release.
According to President of FNCSI Shyam Prasad Giri, the launch of MIS will kick off next week in Chitwan, for which FNCSI and SAMARTH/NMDP have jointly organised a training for data entry operators and data analysts.
In the initial stage of second phase, FNCSI will carry data entry operation in 10 districts with the support of SAMARTH/NMDP, incorporating at least one district in each of the province. FNCSI will then extend the process to next 10 districts on its own and through other raised resources. This will be later extended to all 75 districts.
The main objective of this database management system is to collect data from individual entrepreneurs. District chapters will keep track record of enterprises and changes in size, employees and registration status.
FNCSI ensures that all member information will remain confidential, and any identifying data will be redacted to protect the privacy of the enterprises, the release says.
Having an accurate record of MSCI data would allow FNCSI and the concerned government agencies and other stakeholders to identify and address the issues holding back micro, cottage and small enterprises in Nepal.
