KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 2
Foodstuffs worth Rs 5.89 billion were imported through the Birgunj checkpoint in the first four months of the current fiscal year, an increase of Rs 1.24 billion compared to the same period last year.
According to the Customs Office, maize worth Rs 2.29 billion and paddy worth Rs 2.1 billion were among the major imports.
Similarly, rice worth Rs 1.6 billion also entered the country via the checkpoint during the period.
