KATHMANDU, AUGUST 1

The arrival of foreign tourists to the country increased by 21.22 percent in the first seven months of 2024.

According to information shared by the Nepal Tourism Board, 647,615 foreign tourists visited Nepal up to July this year, compared to 534,207 during the same period last year.

In January 2024, 79,100 foreign tourists entered the country, followed by 97,426 in February, 128,000 in March, 100,067 in April, 111,376 in May, and 90,211 in June. In July, 64,599 tourists visited Nepal, marking an increase of nearly 12 percent compared to July 2023.

The Board's statistics indicate that foreign tourist arrivals increased by 11.9 percent in the same period this year compared to July of last year. In July 2024, 64,599 foreign tourists arrived, whereas 75,726 tourists visited in July 2023.

The Board also noted that 44,462 tourists came to Nepal in July 2022, 3,633 in 2021, and 196 tourists in 2020. In July 2019, before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, 70,916 foreign tourists arrived in Nepal.
