KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 2

The Global Math Debate League (GMDL) has announced its nationwide schedule for the 2026 Regional and National Rounds, aiming to promote mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and debate among school students across Nepal.

The Regional Rounds will be held across five hubs in February. The competition begins in Jhapa on February 4–5, followed by Chitwan (February 7–8), Butwal-Bhairahawa (February 10–11), Pokhara (February 13–14), and Kathmandu (February 16–17). The National Round will take place in Kathmandu on February 21–22.

GMDL co-founder Divesh Bathija said the initiative aims to transform mathematics from rote learning into a subject driven by reasoning, debate, and real-world application.

The 2026 edition is supported by several academic and institutional partners. Britannica Inc. has joined as the Research and Skill Tech Partner, while Educase and Lab of Future, Dubai are supporting the league through sponsorship.

Regional partners include Aastha College in Jhapa, Lumbini World School in Butwal-Bhairahawa, and Kumudini Homes School in Pokhara. Foodmandu is serving as the Food Delivery Partner, while TBG Nepal is supporting the initiative as a Fraction Sponsor.

Organisers said the league continues to reshape mathematics education in Nepal by encouraging analytical thinking, articulation, and collaborative problem-solving among students nationwide.
