KATHMANDU: Gold price went up by Rs 1,500 a tola overnight to peak at Rs 69,500 per tola in the domestic market on Wednesday.

The rate has breached Tuesday’s record-setting price of Rs 68,000 a tola. Wednesday was the fifth consecutive day that gold price set a new record.

The ongoing trade war between the United States and China along with increased tariffs by the US on Chinese goods have resulted in investors flocking towards gold, which is considered a safe investment.
