Gold breaks price record
KATHMANDU: The high demand for gold in the international market is playing a major role in the skyrocketing price of gold abroad. Gold with the trading price of $ 1104 per ounce today broke yet another record which yesterday was $1095 per ounce in the international market. The domestic market saw its trading price at Rs 31,300 per tola today.
On Sunday, the market opened at Rs 31,148 per tola. Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association (NEGOSIDA) president Tej Ratna Shakya said compared to the yen the dollar is weakening. Thus, the trend to invest in gold. Shakya said Indian currency also fluctuated this week and the cost of production got higher, affecting the domestic price of gold.
Meanwhile, silver too broke its price record, totting up Rs 512 per tola on Sunday and Rs 515 per tola on Monday, said NEGOSIDA.
