Fine gold drops to Rs 259,600 per tola; silver also slips

KATHMANDU, JANUARY 1

Gold price continued its downward trend in the domestic market on Thursday, extending losses after touching a historic high of Rs 270,600 per tola on December 28.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, fine gold fell by Rs 1,400 per tola to trade at Rs 259,600 per tola on Thursday. Gold had closed at Rs 261,000 per tola on Wednesday.

Silver price also declined, albeit marginally. The silver shed Rs 55 per tola to trade at Rs 4,415 per tola on Thursday, down from Rs 4,470 per tola the previous day, the federation said.
