Silver also hits a historic peak amid a continued surge in the domestic market

KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 22

Gold price in the domestic market surged sharply on Monday, rising by Rs 3,400 per tola in a single day to set a new all-time high in Nepal.

With the increase, the price of the yellow metal reached Rs 261,700 per tola, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FNGSDA). Gold had previously touched a historic high of Rs 260,700 per tola on Mangsir 29, which has now been surpassed.

Silver price also continued its upward trend, posting another record high in the Nepali market. The price of silver rose by Rs 130 per tola on Monday to reach Rs 4,235 per tola, the Federation said.

On Sunday, silver was traded at Rs 4,105 per tola, which itself was Rs 100 higher than Friday's rate, indicating sustained volatility and a strong upward momentum in recent days.
