KATHMANDU, APRIL 17

The price of gold in the domestic market has soared to an all-time high, crossing the Rs 190,000 mark per tola on Thursday.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association, the price of fine gold rose by Rs 3,600 in a single day to reach Rs 190,600 per tola. On Wednesday, it was traded at Rs 187,000 per tola, already up by Rs 2,700 from Tuesday.

Gold prices have been steadily climbing in recent days, moving further out of reach for many Nepali consumers. With deep-rooted significance in Nepali religious, traditional, and cultural ceremonies-especially weddings-the sharp increase in gold prices is expected to bring financial strain on those planning major events.

Meanwhile, the price of silver rose marginally by Rs 5 per tola. It was priced at Rs 1,955 per tola on Wednesday and reached Rs 1,960 per tola on Thursday.
