The price of yellow metal and silver decreased in the trading week between June 18 and 23.
In the domestic market, gold price decreased by Rs 2,200 per tola, while silver price fell by Rs 110 a tola during the review week.
According to the rate list of Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association (FeNeGoSiDA), gold price was fixed at Rs 112,000 per tola when the market opened for trading on Sunday. Gold prices remained unchanged on Monday before decreasing by Rs 200 a tola to Rs 111,800 per tola on Tuesday. The price of yellow metal decreased by Rs 500 a tola on Wednesday before decreasing again by Rs 700 per tola on Thursday. On Friday, gold prices rose by Rs 700 a tola to close the trading week at Rs 109,800 per tola.
Meanwhile, silver was traded at Rs 1,455 a tola on Sunday and it decreased by five rupees per tola on Monday. The price of the grey metal decreased by Rs 10 a tola on Tuesday before slumping further by Rs 55 per tola on Wednesday. Its price fell by five rupees a tola on Thursday but then rose by Rs 25 per tola on Friday to settle at Rs 1,325 a tola for the week.
According to international news agencies, gold prices on Friday were heading for their biggest weekly percentage fall in over four months, weighed by a stronger dollar and hawkish comments by Federal Reserve officials. US gold futures settled 0.3 per cent higher at $1,929.6. The dollar index rose 0.5 per cent to a one-week peak against its rivals, making gold less attractive for other currency holders.
