Government urged to spend

Kathmandu, March 28:

The central bank governor Dipendra Bahadur Chhetri suggested government to spend on development wor-ks. “Without investment we can not generate opportunities,” he showed serious concern speaking at an interaction programme here today.

Agreed economist Dr Madan Dahal: “We can manage the impact of recession if the government takes challenge. He said adding that expenditure on development projects can help rebound the economy. “Liquidity in market is key to cope with recession,” Dahal added.

“Recession has already hit remittance, export and its moving towards the real state,” economist Dr Chiranjivi Nepal said giving data from Lalitpur Land Revenue Office that has recorded 49 per cent decrease in land registration within three months between Magh and Falgun.

“Remittance has gone down by $1.2 millio in last two months,” said Chhetri.

However, chairperson of National Cooperative Association Deepak Prakash Baskota said that micro-finance can generate opportunities.
