Kathmandu, February 28
The government has launched the Integrated Website Management System (IWMS) and Web Monitoring System (WMS).
Inaugurated by Communications and Information Technology Minister Rekha Sharma today, the Department of Information Technology has implemented the two systems in a bid to maintain uniformity among the websites of all government bodies as per the guidelines related to website design and management of government offices.
The new websites of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology and the Information and Broadcasting Department, Postal Service Department, Information Technology Department and Printing Department have been developed in a uniform format via using the IWMS.
The department has stated that even if the government agencies do not have human resources proficient in information technology, they will be able to easily develop their respective office websites with the available resources free of charge and securely by using IWMS, which is expected to save annual expenses for website development, updating and support.
Likewise, the government agencies can easily publish any information related to their offices through the official websites.
The IWMS has been developed after extensive study and research of the websites of various national and international level government agencies. This system will create disabled-friendly websites and also have features such as frequently asked questions (FAQs), complaint management, automatic assistant (Chatbot), among others.
Meanwhile, a separate mobile app has also been developed so that the websites of government agencies can be viewed through mobile devices.
The department will provide the system administrator (Admin User) to the government agency to manage the institutional website and via the same user, the relevant body can add and remove menus and sub-menus to its website, put slogans and logos, manage media files such as gallery videos and banners, employee details, organisation structure, among others.
In addition, the department has stated that the WMS has been developed to continuously monitor the websites/web applications of all government agencies to minimise the risk of hacking or suffering outages.
