Govt loses huge revenue

Baitadi, December 17:

Due to absence of sub-customs offices at Dadeldhura, Baitadi and Darchula districts, government is losing a huge revenue. It has also given rise to smuggling.

Around one dozen sub-customs offices were displaced from Baitadi, Tatopani and Pataram of Dadeldhura, Dharmaghat, Kusmautghat, Dimbarghat, Pancheswor, Haldubinayak and Balara of Baitadi and Joljivi, Dattu and Sitapul of Darchula during the conflict that are yet to be reinstalled.

“Smuggling has also increased as the customs offices are not restored,” said Pancheswor VDC ex-Chairman Rami Chand. Likewise, hemp, herbs and wildlife organs are also smuggled into India due to lack of Tatopani and Pataram sub-customs of Dadeldhura, according to the locals.

Around Rs 1.4 million to 1.7 million of revenue has been decreased in Dadeldhura alone.
