Govt requests Saudi Arabia to provide fuel at subsidised rate

KATHMANDU: The government has requested Saudi Arabia to provide fuel to Nepal at a subsidised rate so as to cope with the fuel crisis facing the country, following India's unofficial blockade.

Under Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies Shiva Prasad Tripathi said that the government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requested the Saudi government to provide Nepal with 20,000 kilolitres of diesel and petrol in subsidy.

Earlier, the government brought in 1.3 million litres petrol from China as a grant.
