GXS to expand operations in India

Global eXchange Services (GXS), the US-based leading e-commerce services provider, has decided to expand its technology operations in India with a view to creating new solutions for business-to-business platform. The city-based India Technology Centre (ITC) of GXS works on projects to develop data synchronisation solutions for the retail industry and trading grids for large enterprises. The local facility contributes over two-thirds of GXS’ core software products and solutions business.

“The ITC undertakes core development work of leading technologies for our global networks,” Gary Greenfield, president and chief executive officer of Maryland-based GXS, said. Growing at 30 per cent annually, the four-year old ITC plans to ramp up its development teams with fresh hiring to position itself as a strategic facility for GXS’ operations worldwide, added Greenfield.

Operating one of the largest business-to-business networks, $360-million GXS caters to about 100,000 trading partners worldwide, with 50-60 per cent of them in North America.

The company’s networks process one billion transactions annually, accounting for $1.0 trillion in goods and services of 34,000 customers, including 50 per cent of Fortune 500 corporations.
