Helvetas anniversary

KATHMANDU: Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation has celebrated its 60 years of establishment in Nepal by celebrating a special programme organised in presence of its President Elmar Ledergerber. The programme marked the presence of dignitaries from beneficiaries, the government ministries and departments, donor communities and various development partners. Helvetas started its engagement in Nepal in 1956 by supporting dairy development and vocational training, one year after establishment of Swiss Association for Technical Assistance (SATA) in Zürich, Switzerland, as per a press release issued on Tuesday. In the context of the devastating earthquake in 2015, Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation is supporting rehabilitation of affected people through skills developpment for reconstruction, rebuilding of houses, among others.
