KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 10

The high-level committee, formed to investigate the matter concerning the sale of Ncell shares, has formally commenced its probe starting from Sunday.

Tankamani Sharma, the coordinator of the five-member committee, shared that the committee initiated the study in accordance with the government's mandate to conclude the investigation within a specified timeline and submit a report with suggestions.

According to Coordinator Sharma, the committee will engage in discussions with relevant regulatory agencies, government officials, and service provider companies during the investigation. Throughout the process, they will collect necessary documents and information from concerned individuals and organizations, while also seeking views and suggestions from experts, stakeholder organizations, and individuals.

Everyone involved has been urged to cooperate with the committee by providing factual information and any evidence related to the issue. The probe body has its secretariat at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and is mandated to present its report within 30 days of its formation.

It is worth noting that the government formed the probe panel on December 7 to study and investigate issues related to Ncell's share and purchase, its compliance with existing laws, and its impact on revenue collection and foreign investment in Nepal, among other aspects.
