IFMGA General Assembly to begin

KATHMANDU: The general assembly of IFMGA — an international association of mountain guide associations from all over the world — is being hosted by Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA) in association with Nepal Mountaineering Association and supported by government of Nepal, Nepal Tourism Board, Himali, Nepal Mountaineering Instructors Association and Blackbeard.

The IFMGA General Assembly — held every six months during spring and autumn in different IFMGA member countries — is being held in Nepal for very first time, as per a media release.

The programme is scheduled from November 28 to December 1.

The programme date also marks the five-year anniversary of NNMGA joining the IFMGA.

The four-day scheduled programme will be followed by conferences, workshop, gala night and general assembly.

IFMGA was founded in 1965 by guides from Austria, France, Switzerland and Italy.

It is currently a body of mountain guide associations from more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and Oceania, representing a total of almost 6,000 guides.
