KATHMANDU: A team led by the newly appointed 'Mission Chief' of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tidiane Kinda has paid a courtesy call to Min Bahadur Shrestha, vice-chairperson of the National Planning Commission.

During the meeting, the IMF expressed its interest in the 16th five-year periodic plan being prepared by the NPC.

Moreover they discussed various issues, including Nepal's economic development, the government's policy and plans, implementation status of Public Investment Management Assessment (PIMA), Nepal's progress towards graduating from the category of underdeveloped countries, the state of capital expenditure, as well as the immediate and long-term challenges faced by Nepal's economy.

After the meeting, NPC Vice-Chairperson Shrestha expressed gratitude to the IMF team for their support to Nepal.
