KATHMANDU, JANUARY 4

Jhapa Energy has sold electricity worth Rs 47.1 million to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) in the first five months of the current fiscal year 2082/83, the company said.

According to company chair Lal Bahadur Sanwa Limbu, the 10-megawatt solar power project produced 6.52 million units of electricity between Shrawan and mid-Mangsir from its facility at Buluchowk, Shivasatakshi Municipality-4. The NEA purchases the electricity at Rs 7.30 per unit.

Operational for the past two years, the project spans 22 bigaha of land and has 21,600 solar panels installed. Power generated at the site is transmitted to the NEA's Buluchowk substation, located less than a kilometre away, and integrated into the national grid.

Jhapa Energy had sold electricity worth Rs 50 million in fiscal year 2080/81, with sales increasing to Rs 90 million in 2081/82, Limbu added.
