BARA: Jitpur Sub Metropolitan in Bara district has decided to impose Integrated Property Tax from the upcoming fiscal year 2075/76, authorities informed.

The sub-metropolis will implement IPT as per the provisions of Local Government Act 2074, Mayor Krishna Poudel said while concluding a two-day-long interaction programme organised to educate local institutions and government staffers on IPT.

Citing that the IPT was progressive, Mayor Poudel said that the tax would be based on the valuation of land and the structure built on it.

“IPT is a major source of internal revenue,” the Mayor said, “we would ensure effective implementation of the tax and utilise it for infrastructural and social development and justice in the Sub Metropolitan.”

Government has decided to impose IPT as an alternative to House and Land Tax which was scrapped following implementation of Local Government Act 2074.
