KEC fete aims to promote technological knowledge

Bimelendra Nidhi, minister for education and sports inaugurated a three-day long fete organised by the third year students of Kantipur Engineering College (KEC). The fete, organised for the first time by the students of KEC, aims to bring people from all sectors concerned with technical education on a common platform. The event will be organised in two categories. The Kantipur Engineering College fete will demonstrate models of civil engineering projects as well as hardware and software products. These will be accompanied by other entertainment programmes. The fete will comprise of a total of 26 stalls for product promotions, sports and food stalls. Musical concerts will also be held at the premises of Kantipur Engineering College. A national technical seminar will be organised on July 4 at Staff College at Jawalakhel.
The national technical seminar will focus on engineering education and globalisation, Information Technology (IT) policy in Nepal and professional ethics. Speaking at the inaugural programme, chief guest Nidhi said that organising such an event will break the monotony of regular schedule of students and encourage them to take part in extra-curricular activities and introduce them with changes occurring around them. "The establishment of an engineering colleges has helped meet the demand for technical education in Nepal and is providing a wide array of courses. These are giving a chance to students to study the subject they like," said Nidhi.
