LEKHNATH: The 10-day-long Lekhnath Mahotsav 2066 kicked off today in Bhandardhik of Lekhnath with the aim of promoting tourism trade and local products as well encouraging locals to produce exportable goods.
The Mahotsav is jointly organized by the Lekhnath chapters of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industries and Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries. CA chairman Subash Chandra Nembang inaugurated the Mahotsav. Different tableaus, cultural shows of different communities were enacted during the inaugural ceremony. Thanks to the efficient management of the Mahotsav, all 322 stalls have been booked.
Lekhnath’s Nepal Chambers of Commerce and Industry chairman Sitaram Jamarkattel said that the Mahotsav would be effective in promoting agricultural, industrial and tourism sectors of the area. It would also be fruitful for the development and promotion of small scale industries there. Farmers of the area have put their agricultural products on display in the Mahostsav. There are also stalls of industrial products. On the occasion, locals demanded that the government pay attention to the development of industrial, agricultural, tourism and other sectors of their area.
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, CA chairman Nembang urged locals to preserve the natural beauty of the area. He said that the people of Lekhnath should work to protect the lakes in their area. He also emphasized on stopping encroachments around the lake area. Former chairman of parliament Taranath Ranabhat, former chairman of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries Anandaraj Mulmi and others also lent their presence at the programme.
