KATHMANDU, MAY 4
The Embassy of India in Kathmandu and Sushila Thakur Memorial Health Foundation (STMHF) have signed a memorandum of understanding today for the distribution of LPG gas stoves and cylinders in Mahottari district.
The project is aimed at providing clean cooking fuel to underprivileged and marginalised families in five municipalities of the district.
The Indian government has provided a grant assistance of Rs 50 million for the project under India-Nepal Development Cooperation.
This project is inspired by the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana of the Indian government, which aims to provide clean cooking fuel to rural and deprived households.
India has taken up over 535 High Impact Community Development Projects in Nepal since 2003, and this project is one of the 81 projects in Madhes Province, including six projects in Mahottari district.
Indian government has also gifted 23 ambulances to various hospitals and health posts in Mahottari district.
