KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24

The per tola price of the valuable yellow metal has seen a massive spike today amid reports of flaring tensions in eastern Europe, as Russia announced military operations against the Ukraine on Thursday.

Gold price has risen by as much as Rs 2500/tola on a single day while silver too is being traded at 1355, marking a Rs 35/tola increase.

The yellow metal is currently trading at Rs 99,000 per tola, up from Rs 96,500 per tola yesterday, according to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers' Association.

Tejabi gold is presently being traded in the market for Rs 98,500 per tola.

Global stocks and U.S. bond yields dived on Thursday, while the dollar, gold and oil prices rocketed higher as Russian forces fired missiles at several Ukrainian cities and landed troops on its south coast.

According to Reuters, spot gold XAU= jumped more than 1.7% to hit its highest level since early January 2021.
