KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the sole secondary market of the country, dropped 58.99 points to reach 2,661.44, a 2.17 per cent decline, on Thursday.

On Thursday, the benchmark index, sensitive index, and float index all slid, with the sensitive index dropping to 507.58 points, a 10.36 point or 2.00 per cent decrease. Similarly, the float index fell to 180.30, a 4.01 point or 2.17 per cent loss.

The market today saw all sub indices in the red, with the life insurance index leading the pack of losers with a 2.86 percent or 418.95 point loss.

A total of 8,490,689 units of shares of 229 companies were traded for Rs 4.293 billion today, up from Rs 3.131 billion, recorded on Wednesday.

The total market capitalization on Thursday stood at Rs 3.769 trillion.

Despite the market's decline, Himalayan General Insurance (HGI) increased by 9.91 per cent today.
