KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 21

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index gained 56.73 points on Tuesday with the benchmark index hitting 2415.55 points, a gain of 2.41 per cent.

The index had lost 17.93 points on Monday.

Both indexes gained on the country's sole secondary market on the second trading day of the week, with the Sensitive index hitting 462.52, an increase of 11.34 points or 2.21 per cent, and the float index climbing to 166 points, an increase of 3.78 points or 2.33 per cent.

Similarly, all of the sub-indices were in the green in today's market.

Today, a total of 4,974,253 units of shares of altogether 226 companies were traded for Rs 2.383 billion.

Although the benchmark index saw a rise today, the daily turnover was lower than Monday's, which was Rs 2.464 billion.

At the end of the day, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 3.396 trillion.
