KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 22

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, the sole secondary market of the country soared 92.16 points on Wednesday to 2507.70 points, a 3.82 per cent increase. The benchmark index had gained 56.73 points on Tuesday.

The country's lone secondary market also experienced a boost in daily turnover today, with a total of 8,104,319 units of 233 companies traded for Rs 4.523 billion. On Tuesday, the daily turnover was merely Rs 2.383 billion.

Similarly, the sensitive index increased by 14.74 points, or 3.19 percent, to 477.26 points. The float index also rose 6.30 points, or 3.79 percent, to 172.29 points.

In today's market, all sub indices gained, with the trading index leading the pack with an increase of 8.23 per cent, followed by the manufacturing and processing index with a gain of 7.66 per cent and the hydropower index with a gain of 6.03 per cent.

At the end of the day, the total market capitalization stood at Rs 3.525 trillion.

Arun Valley Hydropower Development Co. Ltd (AHPC), Barun Hydropower Co. Ltd (BARUN), Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd (UPPER), and Shivam Cements Ltd (SHIVM) all had their stock prices rise by 10% today.
