Milk export to India
Biratnagar: At least 22,455 litres of milk were exported to India via Biratnagar-Jogbani point during the first four months of the current fiscal year. According to eastern regional animal services directorate chief Dr Yogendra Prasad Yadav, 15.46 million litres of milk worth Rs 37.79 million were collected and sold through cooperatives and dairy industries in the eastern region during the dame period. There are 139 cooperatives and 61 dairy industries in the region. The region also saw a 3.87 per cent rise in milk production. There is an annual demand for 57 litres of milk per person in the region while the supply is around 60 litres. Yadav said the Koshi flood last August killed 13,417 cattle.
