KATHMANDU, MAY 5

Authorities are ramping up efforts to transform Muktinath into a vibrant religious tourism hub, with plans to develop a new trekking route linking key heritage sites in the area.

Following a recent field visit, Chief District Officer Bishnu Prasad Bhusal stressed the importance of a four-kilometre trail constructed to connect Muktinath temple with three surrounding religious sites.

"We aim to encourage pilgrims and tourists to extend their stay by offering a richer cultural and spiritual experience," he said.

Bhusal led an 11-member team to Muktinath on Saturday to assess tourism potential and conduct a preliminary feasibility study.

The proposed route, he added, will be developed jointly by the Muktinath Development Committee and local communities.
