KATHMANDU, MAY 5

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Index declined by 9.98 points, or 0.38 percent, to close at 2,610.40 points on Monday.

The Sensitive Index, which represents Class 'A' companies, fell by 0.30 percent, while the Float Index, indicative of actively traded shares, also dipped 0.30 percent.

Market activity remained largely negative, with only four sectors-Hotels and Tourism, Microfinance, Mutual Funds, and Non-Life Insurance-posting gains. However, none of the advancing or declining sectors recorded significant movement, as all changes remained below the 1 percent threshold.

A total of 18.43 million shares of 319 companies were traded across 65,884 transactions, generating a daily turnover of Rs 7.63 billion. This marks a decline from Rs 9.24 billion recorded on Sunday.

Of the listed stocks, 86 gained, 159 declined, and one remained unchanged. Notably, Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited (NMIC), Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals Limited (OMPL), and Citizens Super 30 Mutual Fund (C30MF) hit the 10 percent upper circuit, registering the highest gains of the day.

At the close of trading, NEPSE's total market capitalization was reported at approximately Rs 4.342 trillion.
