Kathmandu, April 17
A seven-member sub-committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Senior Captain Sudhir Samsher Rai to complete the procurement process of the three small aircraft by the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC).
The procurement process was initiated after the sub-committee of NAC management submitted its report to proceed with the action plan for procurement of three small aircraft capable of short takeoff and landing (STOL) to address the huge demand of common people in remote areas and to increase air connectivity.
The NAC is going to purchase the aircraft with its own internal sources in a transparent manner from the manufacturing company, as per a statement released by the corporation on Sunday.
According to the corporation, the new aircraft will help provide services to additional remote areas of the country, in promoting tourism, bring balance in the airline industry, help reduce airfares, and make the corporation's services more consumer-oriented.
