NATO appeal

KATHMANDU: Nepal Association of Tour Operators (NATO) has expressed its serious concern over the nationwide strike announced by the Unified Communist Party of Nepal - Maoist (UCPN - M) on April 12. Organising strikes, blockades and bandh is totally against the party’s previous commitments, states NATO. Issuing here a press statement, NATO said, as tour operators, they have already informed abroad that Nepal will remain free from all sorts of political disturbances following the launching of the Nepal Tourism Year 2011. It has also drawn the attention of the subsequent commitments made by various parties, including the UCPN-M. The tourism industry is the most sensitive sector that can easily be affected even by a minor disturbance.

FNCCI-Danida meet

KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI)’s acting president Krishna Bahadur Tamrakar held a meeting with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Head of Department, Business and Contracts, Charlotte Laursen to explore the possibility of investment in Nepal. Laursen has assured that the Danish government will be cooperating with Nepali private sector for Nepal’s economic and commercial successes.

Unsavoury practice

KATHMANDU: Perfect Blends (Nepal) Pvt Ltd, which is a sister concern of Chaudhary Group, the manufacturer of the kingsize filter cigarette —Josh — has claimed that the street vendors and small-level sellers of their cigarettes are being threatened by competitors to discourage the sales of Josh cigarettes. Since such actions are illegal, Chaudhary Group has already lodged a complaint against the perpetrators to the concerned authorities. The group has also appealed to the consumers and sellers to not be panicky but to help them fight such unhealthy competitors.

NIDC 17th meet

KATHMANDU: NIDC Capital Markets Ltd (NCM) held its 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday. In the ceremony, NCM also released its 2008-09 report.
