National Tourism Fair kicks off

Kathmandu, June 6:

The three-day long National Tourism Fair 2065 is inaugurated amidst much fanfare at the United World Trade Centre at Tripureshwor here today.

The fair was inaugurated by the secretary of the ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation and chairman of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Lilamani Poudel.

Chairman of Bangladesh Tourism Board, FNCCI chief, NTB chief and senior officials, heads of various associations, members of the Constituent Assembly along with hoteliers, tourism entrepreneurs and mediapersons were present on the occasion.

The National Tourism Fair has been organised with an objective to boost domestic tourism by identifying and promoting different tourism destinations of Nepal. The event is also designed to act as a platform for operators and agents to share information and knowledge regarding their products, as well as create awareness on the improvement of the standard of living of the people in rural areas.

There are 60 exhibitors from different parts of the country, including travel agents from various districts, local community officials, handicraftsmen and participants from tourism institutions at the fair.

The first day of the fair comprised business-to-business sessions between tour operators of Kathmandu and the districts, a host of cultural programmes and documentary shows.

This happens to be the second consecutive year of celebration of the National Tourism Fair. The first one was held last year but was not so visible as it had been clubbed with the NATTA Himalayan Mart.
